Copal Tree Lodge is a stunning, luxury eco-lodge situated within a 15,000 acre rainforest preserve with a 3,000 acre farm.
Rooms: there are 16 suites and a three bedroom villa. The jungle suites have floor to ceiling windows with views of the rainforest and either a king or two queen sized beds. Upgrade to one of the four adult only canopy suites with panoramic views of the rainforest and the Rio Grande river, that share a private infinity pool and are reached by a jungle tram from the main lodge.
Dining: The lodge serves food from its onsite organic farm which includes cacao and coffee plants. The main lodge has dining and lounge areas and coffee and rum bars. Outside dining occurs on the observation deck with fantastic views across the rainforest canopy towards the coast and the Maya Mountains. The dishes have strong influences from the local Maya, Garifuna, Creole, Indian and Mestizo communities.
Onsite: Onsite walking trails ,with signs providing an introduction to birds, animal identification and medicinal plants are for guest use and mountain bikes are available to explore the surrounding area and Punta Gorda town. Kayaks are also available to explore the Rio Grande river. A funicular allows guests to travel down to the Rio Grande area on the lodge grounds. The lodge has a small pool near the main lodge and a luxury spa offers a range of treatments in a room overlooking the rainforest canopy.
Nearby Excursions: Signature excursions include a day snorkelling the barrier reef with a private chef, fly fishing in the rivers and mangroves, birdwatching with expert local guides and a Punta Gorda town and market tour.
