Turneffe Atoll Diving Adventure

1 nts Belize City, 7 nts Turneffe Island Atoll

This holiday offers some spectacular diving to a wide variety of sites in a remote a location. Blackbird Caye is located at the edge of Turneffe Atoll which is situated approx. 25 miles off the coast of Belize. The Atoll is a protected marine reserve and forms part of the barrier reef the longest reef system in the Western hemisphere.

The diving package at Blackbird Caye includes 17 single-tank dives, 3 dives per day and 2 dives on the last day. There are over 70 dive sites near Turneffe Atoll, 20 of these are within a 35 minute boat journey from the Blackbird Caye dock. Weather permitting a day trip to dive the Blue Hole, Lighthouse Reef and Half Moon Caye is included on a Thursday. ($40 per person Blue Hole Marine park and $25 Turneffe Atoll entrance fee not included). The package includes weight belts and tanks and dive gear can be rented for an additional cost. There is an additional Tax charge of $4.50 per person per night. This is payable at the resort.

The lodge is reached by speedboat from Belize City and you will have a 7 night stay at the resort. Meals are included and when not diving you can relax and enjoy the beachfront location, explore the local waters with kayaks and paddleboard or relax in the pool.

Who is this trip for? It is ideal for enthusiastic divers that want to visit spectacular sites that are untouched and less visited. It is also ideal for couples, groups or families that may have some that dive and some that snorkel. Can easily be combined with an inland jungle stay, or a few days relaxing in a beach resort.

Prices are per person and include international flights based on an average flight price of £850 per person. Flights can range from £750 to over £1,000 per person at peak times (Christmas, Easter and Summer). Flight routes vary, quickest routes are via Miami, Houston or Atlanta and require a night stopover on the outbound journey and connecting overnight flights on the return. Day to Day

Below is an example day by day itinerary

Day 1

Fly from London to US. Overnight in US (Room only).

Day 2

Fly to Belize International Airport. Met on arrival and transferred to Belize Biltmore Hotel.

Day 3

You will be met by a representative from Blackbird Caye and transferred to the nearby marina. In the afternoon you will transfer by speedboat to Blackbird Caye with others travelling to the lodge. Journey time will be between and 1.5 hours and 2 hours. Overnight Blackbird Caye (D).

Day 4

Turneffe Atoll is home to over 70 dive sites. These include Silver Caves (Schools of silversides inhabit caves dug into a shallow wall, 20-80 feet below the surface), Long Caye Wall (Tunicates, sea slugs, groupers, and jacks all add color to this medium-depth dive), Majestic Alley (Staghorn and elkhorn corals and plenty of tropical fish can be found on this shallow dive), Soldier Caye (Swim amongst pillar corals and moray eels in 30 feet of water), Coral Gardens (Maxing out at 30 feet, this sandy ridge features picturesque, healthy coral formations), Oasis (Plunge down to 120 feet and snap pictures of black corals and sea sponges) and many more. You will also be diving the Great Blue Hole, Half Moon Caye National Monument & Long Caye, The Witconcrete Wreck Experience at Turneffe Atoll and The Elbow Dive followed by the Nature Trails at Calabash Caye. Today, you will have 3 single-tank dives included. Overnight Blackbird Caye (BLD).

Day 5

Today, you will have 3 single-tank dives at different dive sites. Overnight Blackbird Caye (BLD).

Day 6

Day 7

Today, you will have 3 single-tank dives at different dive sites. Overnight Blackbird Caye (BLD).

Day 8

Day 10

Depart by speedboat back to Belize City, then be transferred to Belize International Airport (B). Depart on your international flight back to the UK via US.
